The Island Brijuni where they play the 'Sport of Kings'

If you are looking for a holiday home or holiday apartment in Croatia but are undecided on exactly where, give some consideration to Brijuni. The Islands of Brijuni were for many years the exclusive residence of President Tito and his top officials. Today the islands belong to the National Park and have since been opened to the public to visit and enjoy. This group of exquisite islands in the Adriatic Sea lie lazily off the coast of Croatia. They consist of 14 islands, two large and twelve smaller ones. The largest island, Veliki Brijuni, is covered in lush Mediterranean vegetation with herds of wild deer roaming freely around with peacocks floating elegantly passed. There is a safari
park on the island with lots of exotic animals including camels, zebras, bison and giraffes which were given as gifts to President Tudjman Find Hotels close to the Brijuni Islands Travelling to Veliki Brijuni could not be easier as there are ferries which leave daily from Fazana on Mainland Croatia and being just 2km offshore the trip lasts a short 20 minutes. It is a journey you will never forget. The wonderful island has two hotels which offer visitors sheer comfort and pure luxury befitting the settings they lie in. With five villas on the island as well, you can stay and explore this exquisite place to discover this other world you never knew existed. Unfortunately there are no holiday apartments in Brijuni but a great way to spend some quality time here is to rent an
apartment in Istria, explore the mainland and then take a trip to Brijuni for the day.

There are many geological and archaeological sights found throughout the islands. With many ruins and remains of ancient Roman times scattered all over the group. Touring the area you will understand how many civilisations have walked on these shores in times long past. It is a place of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. These islands are truly a wonder to behold and it really isn't a chore to have to be staying in an apartment in Istria across the water and travel to the islands on a daily basis.

The flora and fauna of Brijuni is superb, with many indigenous species of flowers which during the spring and summer months scent the air and brightly colour the scenic landscapes.Polo ‘the sport of Kings’ is played on the island of Veliki Brijuni and the wonderful polo field that looks out over the Adriatic is the setting for some of the best matches in the world today.

Visiting these gorgeous islands you fall into another world, into an era where time is forgotten. You can enjoy life at a quieter pace as you watch nature at its very best all around you.

The views, the vistas, the landscapes, the flora and fauna, the

history and the wonderful summer climate will tempt you to return to a Paradise nestled off the Istrian peninsula of Croatia in the tranquil Adriatic Sea. Book your Hotel in Pula close to the Briuni Island
